Endpoint virus scanning

The anti-virus software which is available on the Desktop@UCL service is Endpoint.

Your system tray in the bottom right hand corner of the Desktop@UCL PC screen will display an Endpoint icon which is normally green to show all scans are normal.

This will change to a red icon if there is a problem or if the connection to the Endpoint server has been broken.

If a virus has been detected by the system, you will see the following screen shot:

Scanning for viruses and spyware

You can scan individual files, folders and drives for viruses and spyware.

  • If you are on a Desktop@UCL PC, double-click on the Computer icon on your desktop and navigate to the drive, folder or file you want to scan.
  • If you are using the Citrix Receiver, go to File Explorer>File Explorer-APP from your start menu.

Right click on the drive, folder or file you want to scan and select ‘Scan with System Centre 2012 Endpoint Protection’.

  • The scanning window will appear showing the progress of the scan.
  • When the scan has been completed, a report will be displayed on your screen showing the outcome of the scan. If the report has been successful, you will receive a green tick on a computer icon.
