This seven day certificated course is aimed at medical students, junior doctors and others who are interested in ophthalmology as a potential career choice.
15 – 21 July 2020
(Wednesday to Tuesday, including a practical day on the Saturday)
This course will be presented by leading consultant ophthalmologists from Moorfields Eye Hospital and leading clinical scientists at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology. The course will cover current clinical and ground breaking scientific aspects of the discipline. It will start with an introduction to Ophthalmology, structure and function of the eye, clinical history-taking and a broad range of clinical ophthalmology and cutting-edge research. There will also be a session on the residency application process and how to make your application stand out.
The course will be offered in a mixed format, including a practical day where students will be taught to use specialist equipment for common ophthalmic problems and perform intravitreal injections. For 2020, we are hoping to be able to arrange a wet-lab session at the Royal College of Ophthalmologists (this will be an extra-cost option). Details will be confirmed in advance.
