Online and short course for vision and eye health experts
Gain essential skills, confidence and advanced knowledge through taking short courses at the IoO and Moorfields.
Whether you want to familiarise yourself with new equipment, hone your microsurgery skills or learn how to diagnose eye conditions, we offer a range of courses to suit you wherever you are in your career.
We’re partners with the prestigious Moorfields Eye Hospital. This means we can offer a mix of practical sessions and classroom learning in two of the most innovative eye care centres in the world.
You’ll be taught by leading eye care specialists who are pushing the boundaries of the very latest technologies, treatments and techniques in eye care today.
Our one- and two-day eye courses are for junior doctors, GPs, nurses, optometrists and ophthalmologists, as well as scientists, technicians and anyone else with an interest in vision science.
Spend time in our wet lab perfecting techniques like eyelid repair or cataract incisions, all under the expert guidance of clinicians from Moorfields. You can update skills like suture or knot tying, or learn about new technologies. You can also sign up for short courses on how to diagnose and treat diseases like glaucoma or macular degeneration.
Our short courses are designed to fit easily alongside your existing commitments whether you’re already an ophthalmic nurse or you’re thinking about specialising. From workshops in slit lamps to refreshers in the anatomy and physiology of the eye, you’ll gain a fresh perspective on the skills needed to do your job to the highest standard.
With an ageing, overweight population, it’s important to be up-to-date on the latest techniques for diagnosing eye conditions and disorders. Choose one of our courses to develop your skills in analysing ocular imagery, understand more about the ageing eye, get the latest thinking on diabetes and vision, or learn more about allergies and eye diseases.
Experience what it’s like to work at the highest level in eye care. Over several weeks each summer you can choose to study different aspects of the work we do at the Institute and Moorfields. You’ll be exposed to our innovative clinical, academic and managerial approaches and gain essential skills and contacts for a range of successful careers.
