UCL Institute of Ophthalmology



WVUK was funded in October 2017 by 3 members of the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, Dr Maryse Bailly, Prof Julie Daniels and Dr Mariya Moosajee, and has since expanded UK wide

In June 2019, the women in vision  elected the first WVUK committee:

President: Sarah Coupland, Senior Consultant Histopathologist at the Royal Liverpool University Hospital, George Holt Chair of Pathology at the University of Liverpool

Vice President: Mariya Moosajee, Consultant Ophthalmologist in Genetic Eye Disease at Moorfields Eye Hospital and Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children, Associate Professor and Wellcome Trust Beit Prize Clinical Research Career Development Fellow at UCL Institute of Ophthalmology

Secretary: Rebekka Heitmar, Lecturer Aston University

Treasurer: Victoria Kearns, Senior Lecturer in Ocular Biomaterials in the Department of Eye and Vision Science at the University of Liverpool

Early Career representatives: Angharad Hobby, Bethany Higgins and Samantha de Silva

Angharad is a postdoctoral research associate at the School of Optometry and Vision Science at Cardiff University and a practicing paediatric optometrist. Bethany is a PhD student in the Crabb Lab at City, University of London, studying Optometry and Visual Science. Samantha is a medical retina Fellow at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
