UCL Institute of Ophthalmology's Deputy Director Professor Alison Hardcastle, Deputy Director of Innovation & Enterprise Fiona Reid, and Institute Manager Nick Burt attended the launch event on 19 February to represent our institute and welcome the launch of a new Centre of Excellence (CoE) for eye health. This is a strategic partnership between UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, the International Centre for Translational Eye Research (ICTER) at the Institute of Physical Chemistry, Polish Academy of Science, and the Institut de la Vision at Université Sorbonne.

The event took place at the Copernicus Science Centre, Poland's leading outreach hub. The new Centres of Excellence aim to produce world-class research while working closely with local communities to address future challenges with innovative solutions.

We established a strategic partnership with the International Centre for Translational Eye Research (ICTER) in 2019. Our goals and ambitions are aligned, particularly in imaging at different levels of resolution, from single molecules to the entire architecture and function of the eye. Our institute Director Professor Andrew D Dick and Deputy Director Professor Alison Hardcastle were original members of the International Scientific Committee of ICTER.
