Senior Research Technician to join the Chu Lab

Duties and responsibilities

This appointment is funded by the Wellcome Trust to work with Dr Colin Chu for a minimum of three years (until 5 January 2026) with the intent to continue long-term. 

The successful candidate will act as a lab manager and be responsible for constructing and running a mouse adaptive optics retinal imaging system with the opportunity to also be involved in human imaging. It is a technical role but with the opportunity to be involved in primary research.

Key requirements

An undergraduate degree is essential. A Masters, PhD or equivalent qualification in a relevant area is desirable. A broad range of candidate experience will be considered from a key list of:

  • Experience with adaptive optics imaging, optics or biomedical engineering.
  • Experience in mouse handling and experimentation
  • Experience with mouse and/or human ocular imaging
  • Experience in programming and image analysis including Matlab, R, Python and Image J.
