Clinical Research Fellow

A full-time Clinical Research Fellow is required to work on an exciting project.

Job details

The main aim of this research project is to robustly establish the natural history of several inherited retinal diseases utilising our unique patient base and investigational facilities. This will be in preparation for developing outcome metrics for potential gene therapy.

The successful applicant will have input into project direction and experimental design. They will collect serial phenotyping data including details on history and examination, visual acuity, colour and contrast vision, OCT, fundus autofluorescence, and electrophysiology findings. And will analyse the disease progression over time against parameters such as age, genotype etc. The aim is to publish the work in high impact peer-reviewed publications over the next year.

This post is funded until 31 July 2022 in the first instance.

Key requirements

Essential criteria include BSc or MBBS, candidates should have completed at least two years of clinical training in ophthalmology in an approved post (ST3+ or equivalent), must be organized, hard-working, have good general ophthalmology and computer IT skills. They should have previous evidence of peer-reviewed original research articles.
