Duties and responsibilities
We are seeking a highly motivated Communications Manager with significant responsibility for managing communications at strategic and operational levels. The post offers an exciting opportunity for someone to play a key role at a highly successful and dynamic research and teaching Institute, as well as benefiting from the opportunities afforded by being part of the larger financial and administrative community of the Faculty of Brain Sciences and School of Life and Medical Sciences at UCL.
The successful candidate will specialise in developing, producing and evaluating a communications programme that conveys key Institute messages through a diverse set of communications materials, and work in liaison with the Joint IoO and Moorfields Eye Hospital Education Marketing Manager, who is responsible for the marketing strategies designed to increase student numbers. The role will coordinate events for the Institute, deliver professional and inspiring events and help to create a positive environment.
The post-holder will also be responsible for the content and appearance of the IOO website within the UCL domain.
This role is available immediately until 31 December 2020 in the first instance.
Applicants should be educated to degree standard or have equivalent experience. Computer literacy, including understanding of and competency in word processing (e.g. Microsoft Word), desktop publishing and image manipulation (e.g. InDesign, Illustrator or Photoshop) and website technologies (e.g. Drupal) are essential. Candidates should have the ability to influence, negotiate and collaborate with colleagues at all levels in the UCL and externally.
Essential requirements also include a track record in managing and delivering top quality strategic communications and large-scale campaigns, experience of producing a variety of communications materials (from concept to delivery) within tight deadlines, and a strong understanding of websites, social media and multimedia.
