Support Our Research
The Gene and Cell Therapy Group at the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology have been at the forefront of gene and cell therapy research for over 15 years. Our research focuses on improving understanding of a number of retinal diseases and the development of new strategies and techniques to tackle retinal degeneration.
In the last few years our work has lead to the development of a number of clinical trial programmes:
- we are currently engaged in the worlds first gene therapy trial for childhood blindness caused by a condition called Leber Congenital Amaurosis Type 2
- we are conducting Europe's first phase I safety trial to assess whether stems cells could be used to repair macular damage in people with Stargardt disease
Your generous donation will help us in our goal to expand the range of retinal diseases that can currently be treated and to bring more novel gene and cell therapies to the clinic in the future. However, large or small, you donation will go a long way towards helping us fulfil these goals.
You can support our work by making a donation to our JustGiving page below. Should you wish to discuss a larger donation or set up regular monthly payments to support our work, please email email@example.com or call 0207 608 7982 or contact us via the form on our Contact Us page.
