Helen Baker, a former PhD student at the IoO, will share her journey from academia to a successful career in healthcare research.

About the Speaker
Helen Baker
Senior Research Fellow and Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement Lead at NIHR Biomedical Research Centre at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHSFT and UCL Institute of Ophthalmology
Helen has 25 years experience of working in the NHS and Academic Institutions. She has a deep understanding and considerable experience in mixed-methods research with a special interest in qualitative design, execution and analysis. Her passion and expertise lie in understanding the patient's needs to make their healthcare journey as smooth and comfortable as possible. Her skill set enables her to collate, analyse and report patients’ views in a way that is acceptable to the scientific and medical communities whilst being compassionate and understanding to the patient.
Helen is a Senior Research Fellow at UCL's Institute of Ophthalmology and the PPIE Lead for the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and UCL Institute of Ophthalmology.
