We will welcome Professor Constance Cepko from Harvard Medical School and the Howard Hughes Medical Institute for the Annual Lecture, followed by the announcement of this year's IoO Awards: recognising academic, teaching and collegiality activities from staff and students who have made significant contributions to the Institute.

Research Excellence Award winners for 2021

The Research Excellence Award recognises excellent peer-reviewed, published, original research authored by a post-doctoral scientist/early career researcher.

This year we have two first prize winners;

Teaching Award winner for 2021

The Teaching Award recognises individuals who have made significant contributions to teaching and education at the IoO.

This year's winner is;

  • Rashmi Mathew

Collegiality Award winner for 2021

The Collegiality Award recognises individuals or a team who promote a spirit of culture and encourage cooperation, inclusion and teamwork at the IoO.

This year's winner is;

  • Naheed Kanuga

Directors' Award winners for 2021

This award recognises individuals who have provided outstanding service celebrating leadership, success and achievement.

This year's winners are:

PPIE Award winners for 2021

Now in its second year, this award from the NIHR Moorfields Biomedical Research Centre recognises excellent PPIE in research, which is one of the BRC’s key objectives.

This year's winners are:

  • 1st place MyEyeSite team: Laura & Alessia Fietta (parent and patient), Prof Andrew Webster, Nick Nettleton, Dr Rose Gilbert & Dr Jocelyn Cammack
  • 2nd place Prof Mariya Moosajee
