Imaging of human epileptic activity and modelling of their generators, and multimodal imaging technology

Our research is focused on epileptic activity in humans using multi-modal imaging to better understand its sources, and how any localising information derived from our data can be used to assist in the management of patients with drug-resistant epilepsy. This technology and that data it provides also allows us to study the healthy brain. Using functional connectivity analyses on multi-modal functional imaging and electrophysiological data, we investigate the mechanisms that underlie Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy (SUDEP). We also develop methodologies to improve the interpretation of functional MRI data by making it more objective and quantitative.

We are active in applied physics and bioengineering for the development of novel multi-modal recording technologies, which promise to allow us to study the relationship between haemodynamic and electrophysiological signals in humans with unsurpassed bandwidth.
