Clinical interest
His special clinical interest is in stroke and neurorehabilitation. In particular, he is clinical lead of the Queen Square Upper Limb Neurorehabilitation Programme
Research interest
His research is concerned with the mechanisms and treatment of upper limb impairment after stroke, using neuroimaging, neurophysiology and behaviour (kinematics). He has current research funding from Stroke Association, Brain Reseach UK, UCL Biomedical Research Centre, Jon Moulton Charity Trust

- Nick is co-director of ARMlab with Professor Sven Bestmann at UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology
- Nick collaborates with Lucinda Jarrett of Rosetta Life on her Stroke Odysseys project and is clinical lead for UCL on SHAPER - a ground-breaking Wellcome Trust funded £2M study of the impact of arts on health
- Nick has collaborated with Professor Fiona Jones and Dr Ella Clarke in the area of self-management after stroke (National Institute of Health Research)
- Nick has collaborated with Professor Avril Drummond and Dr Anna Kuppuswamy in investigating post-stroke fatigue (Stroke Association)
- Nick was a co-investigator on the FAST-Indicate study led by Profssor Val Pomeroy, looking at the effect of two different types of upper limb treatment following stroke.
- His team has received generous equipment funding from UCLH Charities and The National Brain Appeal - ARMlab has the first KINARM Exoskeleton in the UK for investigating sensorimotor deficits in the post-stroke upper limb
