Wearable sensor study

Participants in the PD-Care project were offered to participate in the wearable sensor sub-study. The aim of study is to detect changes in activity levels and sleep of patients with Parkinson's in the PD-Care trial using a wearable activity monitor (digital watch). This will involve participants wearing the GENEActive monitor for 7 days at baseline and 12-month folllow-up. The motor symptom data will then be compared to the MDS-UPDRS Part III assessment to determine reliability of both measures. The results from this study will provide additional information on the intervention's impact on digitally measured activioty levels and sleep, as well as on the effectiveness and mechanism of a potential impact of this intervention to help patients with Parkinson's self-manage their condition.
