Neuroimaging is an essential non-invasive technology for assessing the efficacy of novel therapies for neurodegenerative disease.

Modern imaging modalities such as MRI and PET can provide a range of insights into the anatomical, microstructural and physiological changes occurring during neurodegeneration, and how these are modified by treatment.

The LWENC Imaging Research Team are dedicated to the development and application of cutting-edge neuroimaging methods, ranging from data acquisition, image reconstruction, and image post-processing and analysis. Using a dedicated state-of-the-art 3T MR scanner, we use advanced imaging techniques such as:

  • high resolution structural imaging (3D T1, T2, FLAIR)
  • high angular resolution, multi-b value diffusion imaging
  • task-free and task-based fMRI
  • quantitative susceptibility mapping
  • arterial spin labelling for CBF measurement

Images post-processing and analysis is performed using custom-designed software pipelines, taking advantage of 3rd party and in-house developed packages. Visit the CMIC website for more details.
