The LWENC CRF is keen to involve members of the public in our research. We have a Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) Panel comprised of volunteers. Our PPI panel helps us to improve the way we carry out research by sharing their opinions on how clinical trials are run.
About the Panel
The panel is comprised of people affected by neurodegenerative diseases, participants on our studies, family members and carers. You do not need to be participating in a clinical trial to join this group.
The information provided at each PPI panel is consolidated and considered by the Clinical Research Facility management as well as the clinical and research support teams. Members play a key role in commenting and reviewing research applications and studies carried out at the LWENC CRF.
Panel Sessions include:
As a member of the panel, you could be invited to take part in:
- Focus groups
- Commenting on research study grant proposals and protocols
- Reviewing patient information sheets and consent forms
- Helping identify research priorities
- Providing feedback for awareness projects and events at the CRF
You are able to choose which activities you wish to take part in.
Commitments and Support
Documents can be sent via email or post, so that there are no travel costs and time commitments are kept to a minimum. If you are invited to travel to the CRF for activities such as focus groups, we will pay for your travel and related expenses.
