UCL President & Provost Dr Michael Spence visits Chalfont Centre for Epilepsy

We're delighted that UCL’s President and Provost, Dr Michael Spence visited the Chalfont Centre for Epilepsy on 17th February 2023 to see first-hand the excellent research and clinical care at the site.

The Provost had the opportunity to first meet with Clare Pelham CEO Epilepsy Society (ES) and Peter Worthington the ES chair of trustees before undertaking a tour of the centre and meeting many UCL and UCLH staff and students.

The Chalfont Centre for Epilepsy was established over 130 years ago by neurologists from the National Hospital at Queen Square, the forerunners for the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology. The Centre is an essential base for our Department of Clinical and Experimental Epilepsy, mainly supported by the Epilepsy Society.

The Epilepsy Society, our partner, aims to transform the treatment of epilepsy and give people hope for a life without seizures. By selling a part of their land in Buckinghamshire, the Society hopes to raise £100 million, which would be invested in cutting-edge research transforming the diagnosis and treatment of epilepsy.
