Transverse Myelitis

Medline NLM definition: Inflammation of a transverse portion of the spinal cord characterized by acute or subacute segmental demyelination or necrosis. The condition may occur sporadically, follow an infection or vaccination, or present as a paraneoplastic syndrome (see also ENCEPHALOMYELITIS, ACUTE DISSEMINATED). Transverse Myelitis Society (UK)
The Transverse Myelitis Society (TMS) is a not-for-profit self-help organization.  It enables affected families to exchange information, support, and resources; engages in patient advocacy; provides a pen pal service; conducts group meetings; and offers phone support.
