Autism

Medline NLM definition : a disorder beginning in childhood. It is marked by the presence of markedly abnormal or impaired development in social interaction and communication and a markedly restricted repertoire of activity and interest. Manifestations of the disorder vary greatly depending on the developmental level and chronological age of the individual. (DSM-IV)

The National Autistic Society
Leading UK charity for people with autism (including Asperger syndrome) and their families, providing information, support and pioneering services, and campaigns for a better world for people with autism.

Autism Independent UK
Helps to increase awareness of autism to the notice of all, together with well established and newly developed approaches in the diagnosis, assessment, education and treatment.

Scottish Autism
Scottish Autism works together with persons with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), their families, carers, and other organizations, agencies, and individuals in Scotland.

Brain and Spine Foundation
