BNF is published by BMA and RPSGB, is intended mainly for doctors, pharmacists and nurses and offers up-to-date guidance on the selection, prescribing, dispensing and administration of medicines prescribed in the UK, with special reference to their indications, cautions, contra-indications, side-effects, dosage and relative costs.
Access route:
- UCL access - access the BNF online with a UCL account.
- NHS access - access the BNF online with an NHS OpenAthens account.
BNF app - an app version of the BNF (plus BNFC) is also available to NHS staff & students following an
NHS-commissioned education programme which involves practice and
placement within NHS provider services.
Important Update: following the release of a new version of the app, NICE confirm that the old app will not be updated after 13 July 2017 and will be withdrawn later in the year. All users need to download the newly launched app. More information is available from the NICE website.
