About the Speaker
Frances Theunissen
Postdoctoral Research Scientist
Dr Frances Theunissen is the FightMND Early Career Research Fellow at The University of Notre Dame Australia, Honorary Research Associate at the Centre for Molecular Medicine and Innovative Therapeutics, Murdoch University, and a member of the MND Genetics and Therapeutics Laboratory at the Perron Institute for Neurological and Translational Science. She completed her PhD in 2023, at Murdoch University. Her research is focused on the co-development of companion diagnostic genetic markers in combination with precision molecular therapies for the treatment of motor neurone disease. Frances is the co-lead of genetic marker development for biotech company Black Swan Pharmaceuticals, driving the genetic enrichment strategies for their antisense therapy portfolio
