Brain meeting
Inner speech, or the ability to talk to yourself in your head, is one of the most ubiquitous phenomena of everyday experience. Recent years have seen growing interest in the role and function of inner speech in various typical and cognitively impaired populations. What is the relationship between inner and overt speech? When does inner speech evolve in childhood and how? How is inner speech affected by stroke later in life? What are the neural mechanisms supporting different types of inner speech? In this talk I will present studies which attempted to answer these questions by examining inner speech in post-stroke aphasia. I will also present a data-based hypothesis regarding the neuro-development of inner speech.
There will be coffee, tea and cake in the conservatory directly after the talk.
