Project Period

We're delighted to launch the Project Period at IoN which aims to offer free sustainable period products to anyone who needs it .

Project Period at IoN is dedicated to providing free, sustainable menstrual products to all students and staff. We’re addressing period poverty and breaking the taboo around periods with an aim of moving our community towards plastic free periods. Sustainable products (pads and tampons with applicator from sustainable materials) are now available in a series of IoN locations.

Goals and Impact

Combating Period Poverty: The initiative ensures that menstrual products are accessible to everyone, reducing financial barriers and promoting dignity and equality.

Sustainability: By offering eco-friendly alternatives to conventional menstrual products, Project Period at IoN aims to reduce the environmental impact caused by plastic alternatives.

Product Locations

Project Period at IoN has been initiated at several locations. Keep an eye on this list as we expand to ensure everyone at IoN has easy access to sustainable menstrual products.

  • Queen Square House, 2nd floor female toilets

  • 7 Queen Square, female toilets

  • 23 Queen Square, Library toilet

  • Russell Square House, 1st and 2nd floor female toilets

Product Replenishment

At the moment, product replenishment happens through IoN EDI Committee volunteers. If stock runs out in a location, then please contact ion.equality@ucl.ac.uk to let them know.

Feedback: Please complete our survey on the project to help to ensure the project meets your needs.
