PATTERN: Unacceptable Behaviours

The PATTERN campaign addresses various forms of unacceptable behaviours that manifest in academic and similar settings. PATTERN uses unacceptable behaviour as an umbrella term which corresponds to different forms of bullying, harassment, discrimination, sexual misconduct, microaggressions and any unwanted conduct that negatively impacts individuals and organisations. Our posters, illustrations and promotional material aim to raise awareness about these behaviours, empowering individuals to recognise and act against them.

PATTERN focuses on behaviours such as:

  1. Abuse of power, hierarchy, seniority
  2. Ignoring, dismissing, excluding, isolating
  3. Attempts to belittle, undermine, undervalue work or individuals
  4. Unreasonable and inappropriate pressure to produce work
  5. Invasion of privacy, breach of boundaries
  6. Microaggressions
  7. Intimidation, direct threats
  8. Unethical conduct and academic dishonesty
  9. Sexual harassment or misconduct

Explore our visuals to learn more about these behaviours and their signs, and join us in fostering a respectful and inclusive academic environment, away from the ‘thick skin’ and ‘that is the way we do things around here’ rhetoric and towards a culture of care. Feel free to download the posters and use them as you please – help us spread the word!
