Queen Square Alumnus Association newsletter Issue 15

Welcome to the fifteenth edition of the Alumnus Association newsletter.

There have been many recent significant Institute achievements, some attracting major media attention. Here are some of the highlights:

UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology celebrates achievements at Annual Address

This year's annual address on 14th December 2020, with 275 virtual attendees, began with a review of the year presented by Professor Michael Hanna, Director of UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology, followed by Education Prizes and Annual Address given by Dr Richard J Youle.

We have continued to work hard on the education front to mitigate for the disruption caused by Coronavirus by moving teaching and some research projects online, with many now being able to take place on site due to the hard work of academics, lab managers, technicians and departmental administrators. In term 2 the vast majority of lectures were delivered live via zoom or Teams and recorded for students who could not attend the live sessions.

In this edition of the newsletter our interview is with Dr Martin Grecco. We have recollections of Queen Square from Dr Michael Finkel and Dr Jeremy Ganz, an article from Professor Andrew Lees that he wrote for the polyphony, news from the Institute and updates from the archives are also included. We would like to highlight that our archives hold extensive material from the past 150 years, including photographs of a royal visit by Prince Philip in 1960.
