Who did you find inspiring at UCL and why? 

My year at UCL was not typical because coronavirus forced us to change how we worked and studied. This had a major impact on all the students, and I decided to return to working in hospitals to support my colleagues. I was impressed by how the staff at the Institute of Neurology worked to keep the students updated and supported throughout the changes. Dr Selai supported me over the year, both as a project supervisor and the course lead, and I was inspired by the kindness and care she showed over such a difficult period. 

What is your fondest memory of your time here? 

We had a tutorial on Transcranial magnetic stimulation in Professor Rothwell's Lab which included hands-on experience with the TMS. It was great to be able to combine learning about the underlying electrophysiology of a process with direct experience of how it can be used in the clinic.

Tell us a bit about the work you’re doing now...

I am now working as a specialist doctor in neurology in Newcastle. It is a busy and rewarding job where I incorporate the knowledge I gained from studying at Queen Square into my clinical practice. 

How did your UCL degree help you get to where you are now? 

Studying for a Masters in Clinical Neuroscience at Queen Square allowed me to develop a keen interest in academic neurology which I am to pursue throughout my career.

What have been your career highlights?

Starting neurology training has been an exciting and challenging experience, but I am excited to continue to further my academic interests alongside my clinical work.

What would be your advice for current students?
