The dual hub: Queen Square and Grays Inn Road

We are creating one IoN-DRI community, who will work over two sites - 256 Grays Inn Road and Queen Square to create one world-class centre for translational neuroscience

Queen Square and 256 Grays Inn Road

The dual hub model is central to the IoN DRI programme, with staff, labs and equipment located across both Queen Square and the new facility at 256 Grays Inn Road, located within a short walking distance from Queen Square and the Bloomsbury campus and alongside existing UCL student residence blocks

These two hubs combined will deliver our vision to create the world’s leading centre for translational neuroscience, which will accelerate the discovery of new treatments, train the next generation of scientists and work in close partnerships with industry, funders and patients.

Queen Square will remain the headquarters of the UCL Queen Square Institute of Neurology and will be the centre for research activities with a clinical focus, while 256 Grays Inn Road will be the centre for preclinical neuroscience and house the Institute of Neurology’s wet labs

Queen Square House

Queen Square House

As part of the agreement to purchase the Eastman Dental Hospital site, UCLH will acquire majority ownership of Queen Square House, while a number of floors will be retained and renovated for Institute of Neurology.  A project to redevelop sections of its ground floor is currently underway and will be completed in 2022
