Latest updates

The library is open seven days a week, please visit the UCL Library page to learn more about the opening hours.

Please wrap up warm when you visit the library this winter. To help combat Covid, windows are kept open for ventilation and the library may get chilly.

The three PC Labs in the IOE Library will not be used as bookable teaching spaces this year. They are walk-in spaces for anyone to use, but especially for people who want to take part in online activities (e.g., Teams/Zoom calls).

Unfortunately, levels 3 and 5 of the IOE Library are now closed to people in wheelchairs or who cannot use the stairs. This is due to issues with two fire exits. The initial feedback indicates it will take at least 6 months to complete the works to enable access to levels 3 and 5. The IOE Library team deeply regrets this situation, and will support students who are impacted by this lack of access in the following ways:

  • Fetching books for users who cannot access Levels 3 and 5.
  • Setting aside a study pod on Level 4 for priority use by students who cannot access Levels 3 and 5. Anyone can book a study pod on the Library page – if there are no study pods available, please contact ioe.libraryservices@ucl.ac.uk or talk to a member of library staff at the Help Point.
  • Students who are affected by this lack of access can email bryan.johnson@ucl.ac.uk directly to discuss how the library can better mitigate the impact.
