Postdoctoral research funding insights seminar series
A series of face-to-face seminars for doctoral students in arts, humanities, social sciences, and education research, to give practical insights into applying for early career fellowships.
About the series
The Postdoctoral research funding insights series provides a series of face-to-face seminars for doctoral students in the arts, humanities, social sciences, and education to hear directly from successfully funded researchers and from funders.
The sessions aim to support and encourage doctoral students wishing to pursue a career in academia to navigate the next steps. The seminars sought to demystify the processes for applying for post-doctoral fellowships and eliminate any concerns around ‘insider knowledge’ that might inhibit PhD graduates from considering applying. The first three seminars were in-person, to encourage networking with successful postdoctoral researchers and funders. Early-career researchers who had successfully applied for fellowships described their experience of developing their proposals and gave insights into how they developed their successful applications.
The sessions were open to all UCL postgraduate research students interested in postdoctoral funding in social sciences and arts and humanities research. To date, students registered to attend from the faculties of Arts and Humanities, UCL Bartlett Faculty of the Built Environment, Brain Sciences, Engineering Sciences, UCL Institute of Education, Life Sciences, Mathematical and Physical Sciences, and Social and Historical Sciences.
This series is organised by the UCL Institute of Education, in collaboration with UCL Arts and Humanities and UCL Social and Historical Sciences, and funded by UCL Research Culture.
