Farhana Tasneem is a Social Sciences BSc student from the UK and Bangladesh, class of 2026.
Why did you choose your degree at UCL?
I chose to study Social Sciences BSc at UCL because of its strong interdisciplinary approach, global reputation and commitment to research that meaningfully impacts society. I love that the course provides students with the tools to think critically, collaborate with other students and researchers and learn to solve real world problems.
What are your course highlights?
The interdisciplinary modules combining sociology, politics and psychology help understand complex social issues from different angles.
The diversity of perspectives - from fellow classmates, lecturer’s and guest speakers creates a stimulating and engaging environment.
What are your career goals?
My career goal is to become a teacher and studying Social Sciences provides a strong foundation for that path. This degree helps me understand how social, cultural and economic factors shape and influence young people’s lives and learning experiences.
What is it like to study in London?
Studying in London is exciting and fast paced, with many opportunities to explore different cultures, ideas and experiences.
Even though London can be busy, it’s motivating to be surrounded by such a diverse and energetic environment.
I live in London and everything is so accessible. I am able to take advantage of the opportunities the city has to offer and it has given me a sense of independence and belonging.
