Professor Qing Gu OBE, Director of the UCL Centre for Educational Leadership, has been appointed as a member of the Government Skills College of Experts by the Cabinet Office.
The College of Experts is made up of external experts who can bring insight to and advise on all aspects of the directorate’s work on a needs basis.
Professor Gu’s appointment is recognition of the contributions that she has made through her work with the Research, Evidence and Impact Panel (REIP), an advisory body that supports the UK’s Leadership College for Government. With the closure of REIP, the government is moving towards a broader and more cross-cutting way of engaging academic experts to support the wide range of work Government Skills undertakes to strengthen skills, learning, and development across the Civil Service and wider public sector.
I feel truly honoured to have become one of the first members of the new Government Skills College of Experts, migrating from REIP. Joining the College of Experts offers an opportunity to continue developing and delivering research impact within a government setting.
The College of Experts currently consists of 24 academics and expert practitioners affiliated with a range of universities and institutions across the UK, and helps Government Skills ensure that it is considering the highest-quality research and evidence when informing its work.
Members of the College of Experts have a diverse breadth of scientific and technical expertise that Government Skills colleagues can draw upon.
