IOE’s London Centre for Leadership in Learning renamed as the UCL Centre for Educational Leadership

The UCL Institute of Education (IOE) has renamed its London Centre for Leadership in Learning (LCLL) as the UCL Centre for Educational Leadership today.
This is an exciting development for the centre as it continues to work for and with the profession to promote high quality leadership, management and learning in education in London, the UK, and internationally. Its collaboration with a wide range of professionals and stakeholders is fundamental to impacting policy and practice across the world through its research and teaching profiles.
The UCL Centre for Educational Leadership is the UK’s largest university-based centre for research, teaching, development and innovation in educational leadership across early childhood, primary, secondary and post-compulsory sectors. The centre’s research explores what shapes leadership, learning and development for individuals, teams, educational organisations and partnerships in diverse contexts.
Current work by the centre includes:
- leading a consortium offering a robust professional learning and development pathway for early career teachers and mentors based on the Early Career Framework
- a research project to help children in poverty in South Africa thrive in school and beyond
- a research project analysing the impact of free schools on local pupils’ outcomes
By combining research, policy and practice, the centre designs powerful engagement activities and professional learning experiences. These inform educational leaders’ decision making, and enable managers and policy makers to bring research-informed knowledge to their own situations. The centre’s cutting-edge development programmes and postgraduate degrees are fundamental to this. As is its high-level consultancy support for education policy reform and school improvement initiatives.
