10 June 2019
The UCL Institute of Education (IOE) extends its warmest congratulations to Yasemin Allsop MBE.
A Lecturer in Early Years and Primary Education at the IOE, Mrs Allsop was named as a Member of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire (MBE) for her services to Education and to Children and Families from Disadvantaged Backgrounds.
Mrs Allsop leads the IOE’s Computing module on the Primary PGCE programme and also teaches Masters-level modules about teaching and learning pedagogy on the PGCE and SCITT programmes.
"I am delighted to have been recognised for such an amazing award and would like to extend my gratitude to everyone I have worked with along the way. I think this shows that as educators, whether we are based in a primary school or a university we can still be part of the community and work together to support children to achieve their best."
Mrs Allsop gained her MA in Education and Technology from the IOE in 2011. Her research interests are mainly related to the use of digital technologies for teaching and learning. She is the co-editor of the International Journal of Computer Science Education in Schools.
A number of other UCL staff, alumni and honorary degree holders were also recognised in this year’s Queen’s Birthday Honours list.
