IOE alumna wins British Council social impact award

UCL Institute of Education (IOE) alumna Maha Helali (Special and Inclusive Education MA) has been awarded a social impact award by the British Council.
Maha Helali received the honour as part of the UK alumni awards in partnership with United Kingdom Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). Hosted by the British Embassy in Cairo, the awards recognise outstanding successes of alumni students of UK HEIs within the last 15 years.
Maha Helali was one of three Egyptians awarded for distinguished careers.
Maha is co-founder and CEO of the Learning Resource Center in Cairo, an organisation that provides diagnostic and therapeutic services for children of all ages who have a broad range of learning difficulties, in addition to consultative and training services to nurseries and school. She also started a non-for-profit parents’ organization (DPO) for people with autism and other developmental disabilities, called the ADVANCE Society, in the Egyptian capital.
