Dr Tony Sewell CBE (LLD)

Honorary Fellow of UCL and CEO of the charity Generating Genius

Dr Tony Sewell CBE (LLD)
Tony draws much from his own unique experiences on the boards of some of the biggest national organisations; from the Learning Trust in Hackney to a  board member of the Science Museum and the Youth Justice Board.

He has developed his own manual on behaviour management in schools called Learning to Succeed. His seminal work is the ‘Black Masculinities and schooling’ has become the key reading on how many black boys construct their masculinity. The book has a new relevance given the rise in knife crime across the UK.

Dr Sewell is a much-acclaimed Fellow of UCL and is the CEO of the charity Generating Genius, which helps young people from socially deprived backgrounds become the highest achievers in the field of Science and Technology. His work as the CEO of Generating Genius has now become a model for understanding how to grow talent from disadvantaged backgrounds.

You will continue to see Tony on the BBC, The Telegraph and Sky News. Dr Sewell’s achievements have been recognised with the award in 2016 of a CBE for services to education and the conferment of an Honorary Doctorate by the University of Exeter in 2017 and the University of Essex and recently the conferment of a UCL Honorary Fellowship.
