UCL IOE with ReConnect: Supporting refugees into higher education, World Refugee Week event

The event will celebrate the partnership work carried out by UCL Institute of Education and our Partner Charity ReConnect. Participants on the ReConnect Preparation for Higher Education will share their autoethnographic poetry about their experience of seeking access to higher education. 

Award holders of the CCM ReConnect Bursary Scheme will present their journey and the support they receive through the scheme. Previous participants will share their current projects. Through this event we want to highlight our enduring partnership and the work of ReConnect, a charity who support refugees and asylum seekers in London, an organisation worthy of support.

This event will be particularly useful to those interested in improving access to higher education for refugees and asylum seekers.

UCL200: Culture, Creativity, and Difference; Fairer Futures; Power of Education

The event showcases the use of creative methods to amplify voices which are silenced culturally and linguistically. Specifically it showcases poetry as an intercultural way of knowing. The event showcases efforts to provide fairer access to HE for refugees allowing them to re-establish their careers and flourish in their future lives. The event showcases the role and power of Higher Education as a bridge to re-establishing the professional lives of refugees.
