CEPEO Annual Lecture 2026: The effects of school phone bans – evidence from the US

Professor Brian A. Jacob

Walter H. Annenberg Professor of Education Policy and Professor of Economics in the Gerald R. Ford School of Public Policy

University of Michigan

His primary fields of interest are labour economics, program evaluation, child welfare and the economics of education.

Jacob’s research covers a wide variety of topics including school choice, teacher labour markets, foster care and juvenile detention. His work has appeared in top economics journals including the American Economic Review, the Quarterly Journal of Economics, and the Review of Economics and Statistics. He is a research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research.
