South-North partnerships: A possible pathway toward democracy promoting education?
This webinar, based on empirical studies of South-North school partnerships, examines the conditions that promote and hinder cooperative, sustainable collaboration.
To be truly effective, education that promotes democracy has to be rooted in an understanding of globality, integrating social justice at a conceptual level. With this framework, the webinar aims to reflect on and conceptualise conditions for effective South-North school partnerships.
Building on empirical data (interviews with school leaders and teachers in sub-Sahara Africa), the speakers will examine conducive and obstructive conditions for the co-operative and sustainable design of South-North school partnerships that enhance democratic attitudes.
Special emphasis will be placed on exploring digitality as a global context; as a challenge, and as an opportunity for global interaction. The session gives empirical insights and practical ideas.
