Join the UCL Centre for Education and Criminal Justice for a discussion with Martin Collins (Open University Student), Jules Rowan and Andrew Wilkie (Prison Radio Association). They will share firsthand accounts of how education transforms the lives of individuals in prison, playing a vital role in rehabilitation, personal growth, and reducing recidivism.
The event will be chaired by Professor Tom Schuller, Former Chair of the Prisoner Learner Alliance. This event welcomes lived experience experts, charity leaders, local authorities, education providers, prison educators, HMPPS staff, academics, policy representatives and practitioners.

Martin is currently doing a Masters degree in Crime and Global Justice with the Open University. He has also completed an undergraduate degree in international studies with the Open University. Two thirds of his undergraduate degree was completed whilst in Prison.
Jules Rowan

Life After Prison Podcast
Jules is a personal trainer, podcast host and part of the presenting team at National Prison Radio. When she was 20, she was sentenced to five years in prison. Since her release in 2019, she has built a successful personal training business which she runs alongside her work with National Prison Radio.
Andrew Wilkie
Deputy Chief Executive
Prison Radio Association
He joined the Prison Radio Association in 2007 to set up a brand-new radio station inside HMP Brixton. From there, they developed National Prison Radio, broadcasting into more than 100 prisons across England and Wales. They aim to support people through their prison sentences using the intimate, honest power of radio.
