Motivating language learners: From theory to classroom practice
Sophia Lam will introduce key theoretical frameworks of motivation and critically examine their relevance to language teaching.

Drawing on empirical research and classroom-based scenarios, the seminar aims to demonstrate how motivational constructs can inform the design of instructional strategies that promote learner autonomy, persistence, and identity development.
Sophia will place emphasis on the practical application of these theories in language education, with particular relevance to pre-service and in-service teachers.
Participants will engage in reflective discussions and hands-on activities, and will leave with a repertoire of theory-informed strategies to enhance motivation and learner engagement in their own teaching contexts.
This event will be particularly useful for researchers and teachers.
