New evidence-based research on school belonging lessons for leaders
UCL Emeritus Kathryn Riley and leading researchers on school belonging examine for early findings on evidence-based school belonging strategies.

Schools are central to young people's lives but often struggle to be places of belonging.
Tune into this timely webinar, hosted by UCL Emeritus Kathryn Riley and leading researchers on school belonging, for early findings on evidence-based school belonging strategies. The research, based on a dynamic ‘Live Delphi’ Study, is an outcome from the 2025 Global Leaders in Belonging Roundtable of international educators committed to promoting school belonging.
Join Kathryn, colleagues and young people to discuss the research; find out about the Global Leaders in Belonging Roundtable; and learn how to navigate towards school belonging.
Key findings include:
- Global Leaders in Belonging Roundtable – Kelly-Ann Allen, Associate Professor at the University of Monash, international researcher on belonging and co-leader of the Global Leaders Roundtable
- how young people see it – Deputy Headteacher Richard Parker Monks, and students from Fullhurst Community College, Leicester
- relevance for leaders – Dame Mary Marsh, ex-headteacher and past Chief Executive of the NSPCC leaders, decorated for her ‘services to families and children’
- significance for governments – Dr Mohammed Elmeski, Senior Education Policy Advisor to the Office of the Prime Minister in Morocco, Roundtable Member.
This event will be particularly useful for school and system leaders, researchers, students, policy makers, research and policy foundations and organisations with an international interest in education.
