The impact of a Study Abroad experience on L2 development
Àngels Llanes will present an overview of the impact of the Study Abroad (SA) context on L2 development taking into account three variables.
This talk will present an overview of the impact of the Study Abroad (SA) context on L2 development taking into account three variables: the participants’ age, the duration of the SA programme, and type of SA programme.
First, it will start with a basic description of the different SA contexts and their characteristics. Next, the main findings of the literature review examining a traditional SA setting will be highlighted, followed by the main findings of findings of the literature review that has examined the effects of a SA experience in an English as a Lingua Franca (ELF) setting.
Finally, the effects of a SA experience in a multilingual setting will be described.
This event will be particularly useful for researchers.
