Translanguaging & transknowledging in education: Towards multilingual practices in the global south
Professor Lee Chi-Kin John discusses the related concepts of translanguaging and transknowledging.

This talk examines translanguaging as both a pedagogical and ideological framework, before introducing the related concept of transknowledging which emphasises the importance of diverse knowledge systems in promoting cultural inclusivity.
The potential of translanguaging is further explored through:
- its decolonising power against monolingual (English only) ideology
- its capacity to facilitate transknowledging processes and intercultural competence, and
- its use in the digital contexts and its impact on youth identity and emotional well-being.
These insights are especially relevant for contexts in the Global South.
This event will be particularly useful for those interested in languages.
