Harmless fun or dark desires? Taking stock of video game violence
Join this event to hear David I. Waddington provide an overview of the debate around video game violence.

Psychologists and philosophers have offered robust and sometimes disquieting analyses of what video game violence might mean. These accounts can help sharpen and refine our critique of violent games. In the case of both the psychological and philosophical literature, Professor David I. Waddington hopes to provide an overview of the shape of the debate, as well as to highlight some of the most compelling arguments. David will argue that while none of these analyses allows for a blanket condemnation of violent video games, several of them raise questions about video game violence that are difficult to resolve.
This event will be particularly useful for those generally interested in philosophy of education and specifically interested in questions concerning technology in education.
Please note this is a hybrid event and can be joined either in-person or online. To book your place, please email Yuxin Su: stnvysu@ucl.ac.uk.
