I was a queer child and so were you: Toward social and cultural transformation
Join this event to hear Kathryn Bond Stockton investigate the concept of gender and its "strangeness" – widening what we think we know about matters surrounding gender.

Kathryn weaves personal memoir with cutting edge theory and stretches what we think we know about important matters surrounding genitals, clothing, and kissing, and even reading and signification that relate to the queerness of children.
She will also consider how race and religion can undermine the notion of “two sexes."
Further examining the issues of everyone’s childhood and adulthood, the discussion of these questions serves to illustrate what dynamics this turns around for gay and trans children. The answers prepare for a story that is yours and holds key themes for social justice and human flourishing.
This event will be particularly useful for trans-inclusive staff, students and LGBTQ+ allies.
Please note this is a hybrid event and can be joined either in-person or online.
