Portfolio Development: Film is a comprehensive 5-day short course, designed to equip participants with the essential skills and knowledge needed to create a standout portfolio for pursuing education and/or a career in filmmaking.

The Portfolio Development: Film course is recommended for those who would like to submit portfolios to the UCL Media BA programme or other film-related courses.

The structure of the course is as follows:
Day 1: Filmmaking essentials
- Introduction to Filmmaking: basics and terminology
- Storytelling/writing
- Cinematography
- Sound
- Postproduction
Day 2: Understanding your unique voice
- Self-assessment: identifying your filmmaking style and strengths.
- Defining your voice: what do you want to tell?
Day 3: Crafting your filmmaker statement
- Articulating your filmmaking philosophy and vision.
- Writing an impactful filmmaker statement.
- Peer review and feedback session on filmmaker statements.
Day 4: Selecting and presenting your work
- Curating your best work: short film selection and editing.
- Creating a cohesive portfolio structure.
- Practical exercise: editing your showreel.
Day 5: Feedback and Fine-Tuning
- Peer and Instructor feedback on portfolios.
- Refining your portfolio based on feedback.
- Final portfolio presentation strategies.
