While the ideals of economic and personal progress and growth are slowly destroying the planet we inhabit and its inhabitants along with it, education – often seen as the solution to this problem – is slowly being suffocated by the very same ideals.

Morten will argue that in order to move beyond this destructive logic, we must rethink, or retune, the concepts of Bildung and exemplarity in a way that moves beyond both classical definitions of these and the logic of progress which has before determined their usage.

Its London Branch hosts seminars every Wednesday in conjunction with the Centre for Philosophy of Education. Morten Timmermann Korsgaard

Associate Professor of Education at the Department of Childhood, Education and Society, Malmö University

His research is focused on the Philosophy of Education, Educational Theory and History, and the work of Hannah Arendt.
