The event will be introduced by a reflection on 50 years of the Thomas Coram Research Unit. An external panel will discuss their impressions of 'Social Research for our Times', followed by an address by the Provost.
'Social Research for our Times' brings together different generations of researchers from TCRU to share some of the most important results of their studies. Running through the book is a key strategic question: what should the relationship be between research and policy? What does ‘policy relevant research’ mean?
TCRU's artist in residence will then walk attendees around her installation. Drinks and canapés will then be served accompanied by one of UCL's student jazz groups.
Speakers
- Professor Alison Koslowski, TCRU
- Professor Mette Louise Berg, TCRU
- Dr Helen Packwood, University of Edinburgh
- Professor Rachel Thomson, University of Sussex
- UCL President and Provost, Dr Michael Spence
- Dr Nora Wuttke, artist-in-residence at TCRU
This in-person event will be particularly useful for social researchers and policymakers interested in the relationship between social research and policy.
