The course will help you to provide efficient and effective support to the whole science department and enhance student learning.

Course content

The course covers:

• The role of the science technician in a school or college;
• Procedures and protocols;
• Health and safety and the technician;
• Keeping up to date;
• A whole afternoon session of hands-on practical activities - which will cover key technical skills necessary to effectively prepare practical lessons (for example: making up an accurate solution, glass work and making equipment, fault finding, hints, tips and best practice);
• The opportunity to use a variety of equipment and share ideas with others.

This course is suitable for all school and college science technicians working at any key stage.

You'll need to be working as a science technician in a school or college.
