ReConnect: World Refugee Week

Learn more about the partnership between IOE and ReConnect as they work together to prepare refugees and asylum seekers for re-accessing Higher Education.

The event will raise awareness of the barriers experienced by refugees and asylum seekers and recognise the achievement of ReConnect participants past and present.

• Developing engagement pathways to reduce barriers to access to Higher Education for refugees and asylum seekers - Aine McAllister, IOE
• The work of ReConnect in supporting refugees into Higher Education and teaching - Theodros Abraham, Director/ Founder of ReConnect
• Keynote - Professor Brad Blitz, IOE
• Presentions from students and alumni of the programme and teachers with a refugee background
• Review of the Impact Survey Report of the 59 refugees supported by ReConnect in partnership with Birkbeck University and IOE - Zhen Yang
• Poetry presentation - Collaborative Authoethnographic Poetic Inquiry and the ReConnect Participants

This in-person event will be particularly useful for researcheres, university policy makers, activists, refugee charities and NGOs.
